We've been home a month now and I've tried to catch you up on pictures I missed. It's
now time to say goodby to Africa and Beyond.
I'm not saying goodby forever because we are already planning our next adventure. Hope
you will join me again.

Bumps on the Ship
As you can see I got some nice pictures at the Game Preserve. Foster had to
cancel and I had to take pictures. This is frequently a problem for me because
I cannot see the screen if it is sunny. Things definetly worked in my favor that
day. I was lagging behind getting to the vehicles transporting us and ended up
in the middle seat at the back - my favorite. I had more freedom of movement.
Not only that, but I think we had the only vehicle with a hood. Therefore, shade
to take pictures. I could see.
Why was Foster not with me?
I mentioned he had a bad cough. When he finally went to medical, they said
he had an upper respiratoryinfection and started him on antibiotics. In the
meantime we visited Shakaland Zulu Village and in one of the rounded,
dark huts, he fell. He bumped his head and fell on his shoulder and got a big
bruise so decided he had better go to medical. He found out his antibiotics
weren't working so was put on IV once a day for a week. By then he had been
diagnosed with pneumonia. During all this time, although he rested a lot, he
didn't feel really bad but we decided it was best not to do some shore excursions.
When we got to Cape Town, we weren't sure what it would be like at the Cape
of Good Hope so he did not go. It turned out to be warm with no breeze.
We were in Cape Town for 3 days and the second day Foster's blood count dropped,
so the doctor wanted him to see someone in Cape Town because once
we left and headed to West Africa, medical care was poor. So we spent our
last day at Christian Bernard Hospital. Fortunately he had improved and we
could continue our trip.
We had a few bumps in the road on this cruise, but we survived. Now we'll wait to
see how good our insurance is.
